Firework Events in the Oaks
Having recently wrapped up the annual Catfish Derby, the Clearlake Oaks-Glenhaven Business Association is again hosting the Maxine Sherman Fireworks. The fireworks display will commence at dusk from the lake at the public boat launch on Island Drive in Clearlake Oaks on Friday, July 3rd.
Prior to the fireworks, from 4 pm – 8 pm, the community is invited to gather nearby at Nylander County Park for an Evening Celebration and Fireworks Festival featuring live music; food and local vendors; patriotic photo ops; an apple pie contest and other family friendly activities. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The park is in Clearlake Oaks, off of Hwy 20, on Foothill Blvd. For more information about this event call 916-910-3873.
Since forming in 1978, the Business Association has been serving its lakeside communities and surrounding areas with events and programs that benefit youth, the elderly, and families. The non-profit organization relies on volunteers, donations and fund raising to maintain key community events.
Chief among the fundraising events sponsored by the Association is the Catfish Derby, a 3-day fishing contest that draws crowds of about 1,000 to Clearlake Oaks every year. “Donations and proceeds from the derby help fund the fireworks display,” said Matthew St.Clair, president of the Association. “We are grateful to our members and volunteers who make it possible to continue to support our communities in this way.”
